Hands-on Review – Logitech G321 LIGHTSPEED Headset

The Logitech G321 LIGHTSPEED headset enters the market as a lightweight, dual-mode wireless option pitched at gamers who want comfort and flexibility without venturing into premium price territory. Sitting at just 210g, it’s one of the lightest headsets in Logitech’s current gaming stable, and that figure alone sets the tone: this is a headset designed for long sessions where comfort is as important as sound.

The first thing that stands out about the G321 is its build. Logitech has opted for a streamlined, practical look, with little in the way of flashy RGB or oversized branding. The frame is slim but not flimsy, and the headband is padded with what appears to be 15mm of foam, but is actually much thinner and under clever tension. This gives it a cushioned feel without adding unnecessary bulk and weight. The earcups use a breathable knit fabric over memory foam pads, measuring about 21mm deep. The combination results in a headset that sits lightly on the head and doesn’t trap as much heat as leatherette-covered peers. That lightness is more than a spec-sheet boast – during extended sessions it’s easy to forget the headset is there. For gamers who struggle with clamp pressure or top-heavy designs, the G321 is a relief. Adjustability is simple, with enough flex to fit a variety of head sizes, though the absence of premium finishes might leave it feeling more functional than fashionable.

Inside, the G321 uses 40mm drivers with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. On paper this isn’t unusual, but in practice it delivers a clear and serviceable soundstage for gaming. Explosions and gunfire have enough low-end to feel convincing, while dialogue and environmental cues sit cleanly in the mix. It doesn’t lean too far into bass, which makes it versatile – though those chasing chest-thumping low frequencies for music may find it somewhat restrained. The closed-back design keeps most external noise out, though it lacks active noise cancellation. For gaming in a relatively quiet environment, isolation is sufficient, but anyone expecting commuter-ready silence will notice ambient sounds creeping in.

Connectivity is where the G321 begins to distinguish itself. It supports Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz wireless through a USB-A dongle, as well as Bluetooth 5.2. That means it can cover both gaming use cases, where low latency is critical, and general media or mobile listening, where convenience is king. Switching between the two is straightforward, and being able to leave the dongle in a PC while still pairing with a phone is a convenience that shouldn’t be underestimated. The wireless range is rated at around ten metres line of sight, which proved stable in practice without unexpected dropouts. Battery life stretches past twenty hours at moderate listening levels – enough to cover several gaming sessions before needing a recharge via USB-C. It’s not the multi-day endurance of some bulkier rivals, but the trade-off for lightness is well judged here.

Logitech has equipped the G321 with a flip-to-mute boom mic, a familiar and welcome feature. The pickup is omni-directional, with a sampling rate up to 16 kHz and a frequency response of 100 Hz to 6.5 kHz. In practical terms, that means teammates will hear you clearly, though the sound won’t rival dedicated streaming microphones. Voices come through intelligibly, but the limited range means richness and warmth are somewhat lacking. For in-game comms and casual chat it works well, but those who want broadcast-quality capture will want to invest in a separate mic.

Day-to-day, the G321 proves itself an easy headset to live with. The flip-to-mute mic removes the need for fiddly in-line controls, while the simple wireless pairing makes it flexible enough for both work calls and gaming. It charges over USB-C, which is increasingly standard, and the lightweight build means it’s just as suitable for long music sessions as it is for a raid or a match. The lack of extras like surround-sound processing, ANC, or custom EQ profiles in the box suggests this isn’t aiming to be an all-singing, all-dancing flagship. Instead, it focuses on getting the essentials right – comfort, functional audio, reliable wireless, and decent battery life.

Overall, carrying a price tag of $100-150, this balance makes a lot of sense. You’re not paying for premium frills or audiophile-grade sound, but for a headset that prioritises comfort, dual wireless flexibility, and dependable everyday use. In that range, it feels like a smart buy for gamers who want something they can wear for hours without fatigue and switch easily between PC and mobile. It isn’t perfect, with a middling mic and no advanced features, but judged against its cost, it succeeds at what it sets out to do. The Logitech G321 LIGHTSPEED is not a showpiece – it’s a straightforward tool that delivers where it matters, and at this price, that’s a win.
