Fujifilm Brings Film Feel to Digital Photos

FUJIFILM Corporation’s recently announced X-T50 mirrorless digital camera is set to hit New Zealand shores June 17, 2024. The latest model in the X series delivers outstanding image quality with unique colour reproduction technology in a compact, lightweight body.

For the first time, FUJIFILM’s Film Simulation dial is incorporated on the top plate allowing a user to easily switch between the ‘look’ they desire, a key feature unique to the company that enables a wide variety of colour tones. There are 20 Film Simulation modes to choose from, including the latest “REALA ACE”. FUJIFILM’s Film Simulations were first introduced in 2004 and harness 90 years of knowledge acquired manufacturing photographic film since 1934, when FUJIFILM was founded.

FUJIFILM NZ GM Imaging Solutions Peter Bonisch says photographers can enjoy a wide variety of colour expression as if they were selecting a photographic film according to the subject or scene.

“Our company’s history and experience are reflected in the high quality of the simulations, but rather than simply recreating analog film, Film Simulations embrace the vision of the future we strived for in the analog era. Now, with digital fine-tuning, they’ve become what they are today and, like film, offer surprises and endless opportunities for photographers to get creative,” says Peter.

Weighing approximately 438g including battery and memory card, FUJIFILM X-T50’s fifth-generation X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor, X-Processor 5 imaging engine, and up to 7.0-stop in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) combine to deliver the highest image quality yet for X Series in a small, light body.

The X-T50 also incorporates a new round shaped design that achieves both high holding performance and compact size.
Combined with the brand-new standard zoom lens “FUJINON XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR” also available in New Zealand from mid-June, the kit is designed for still and moving image shooting in all situations.

The FUJIFILM X-T50 has an indicative price of $2,799 (body only) and the FUJINON XF16-50mm F2.8-4.8 R LM WR lens $1,369. Both can be purchased in black, silver, and charcoal silver from authorised FUJIFILM dealers nationwide from June 17, 2024.
